Police and Emergency Vehicle Upfitting for NC Law Enforcement Agencies

From patrol interceptors to municipal emergency units, we build vehicles that are ready to work the day they leave our shop — not after a second trip somewhere else.

Since 2016, Purcell's Custom Upfitting has been converting law enforcement and emergency vehicles for agencies across the Triangle and beyond. We handle the full scope of the build in a single shop in Hillsborough: light bars, sirens, consoles, cages, push bumpers, prisoner seating, radio mounts, and everything between. Agencies working with us don't manage a list of subcontractors — they get one point of contact and one completed vehicle.

We are active on the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association Vehicle Equipment and Upfitting Procurement Program portal, which means qualifying agencies can work with us directly through the procurement process without additional bidding overhead.

What We Build for Law Enforcement and Municipal Agencies

Every build is specific to the agency's requirements, vehicle platform, and operational role. We work from your spec sheet or develop one with you based on the vehicle's intended use.

Police Interceptor Upfitting

Full conversion of Ford Police Interceptor Utility, Dodge Durango Pursuit, and other pursuit-rated platforms. Builds include light bars, interior lighting, siren controllers, push bumpers, prisoner transport cages, and console fabrication. Vehicles leave the shop spec'd to your department's standards.

Emergency Vehicle Upfitting

Command vehicles, transport units, and municipal emergency response vehicles built to your agency's operational requirements. We install communications equipment, emergency lighting systems, and interior configurations that hold up in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you work with sheriff departments and municipal agencies, not just police departments?

Yes. We work with sheriff's offices, municipal police departments, and other government agencies operating law enforcement and emergency vehicles. We are active on the NC Sheriffs' Association Vehicle Equipment and Upfitting Procurement Program portal, which simplifies the procurement process for qualifying agencies.

  • Can you upfit vehicles to a department-provided spec sheet?

Yes. If your agency has a written equipment specification, we work from it. If you are building a spec for a new vehicle class or platform, we can help develop one based on your operational requirements and the components we install.

  • What vehicle platforms do you work on?

We work on all major pursuit-rated and non-pursuit law enforcement platforms, including the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, Dodge Durango Pursuit, Chevrolet Tahoe PPV, and standard-duty municipal vehicles. If you have a platform not listed here, contact us and we will confirm compatibility before scheduling.

  • How do I get a quote for a law enforcement upfit?

Use the form below or call us directly. We will ask about the vehicle platform, the number of units, and your equipment requirements. Quotes for multi-unit fleet builds are handled the same way — there is no minimum order size.

  • Are you able to handle fleet builds with multiple units on a single contract?

Yes. We have completed multi-vehicle law enforcement and fleet builds and can schedule production to meet agency timelines. Contact us to discuss volume, lead time, and delivery scheduling.
